Things to do at Kaby Lake
Our family invites you to experience some of the finest fishing to be found in Northern Ontario. Located 60 miles by air north of Wawa, Ontario, “Big Kaby Lake” is a pristine fly-in only lake and the largest lake in the Algoma District. Kabinakagami Lake, which means lake of many bays, is 25 miles long, covers 30,802 acres, has 147 islands and over 30 sandy beaches. Offering excellent fishing for Walleye, Great Northern Pike, Jumbo Yellow Perch and Whitefish.
Windy Point Lodge, formally known as Everson's Lodge, is centrally located on Kaby Lake and offers many advantages to our guests. Not only are many excellent fishing areas close by – but one of the best spots is to “Catch Them Right Off the Dock”. Windy Point is a spawning area and especially with a south wind guests have caught and released many times their limit right off our dock. The fishing is that good! The current record for most fish caught and released in one day off the dock is 214 walleye by a group of 4.
Don't forget your camera, for the many wildlife that surround the lake - Moose, Bears, Wolves, Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles, Osprey and so much more.
Directly across the bay from our Lodge is the old abandoned Hiawatha Gold Mine. Rock hounds can spend hours enjoying this site. In the same bay as the gold mine there is the trail up to the old fire tower. This fire tower is a good visual reference and can be seen from many places on the lake.
When in season, pick wild strawberries, blueberries and raspberries right on our property!
